Cone Beam Computed Tomograph (CBCT)
A cone beam CT is a detailed 3D image of your teeth, bone, nerves, and other surrounding structures. This advanced imaging aids in diagnosis and treatment planning by providing more information than what may be visible in a traditional 2D dental x-ray.
Nomad™ X-Ray Gun and Digital Radiographs
Our advanced digital x-ray system allows us to view your teeth and surrounding structures with remarkable accuracy. The Nomad™ is a completely cordless handheld x-ray system. With the Nomad™ x-ray gun, our team can take efficient radiographs with less radiation exposure than most conventional systems. These images provide the information our dental team needs to plan your dental treatment.
Intraoral Camera
The intraoral camera is used to capture images of your teeth, gums, and soft tissues of your mouth, and is helpful in both diagnosis and treatment planning. At Kaka‘ako Smiles, we want you to be involved in your dental care. We can do this by taking photos of the inside of your mouth and sharing these photos with you.
Dexis CariVuTM
Dexis CariVuTM is a device that utilizes transillumination technology. This technology uses light to produce an image similar to that of an x-ray, but without the radiation exposure. With the CariVu, we can safely and effectively detect cracks as well as early stages of tooth decay that may not be visible on a standard x-ray.
Intraoral Scanner
An intraoral scanner is a handheld device used to take digital impressions. Our office uses the TRIOS scanner, known for its unparalleled accuracy among other brands on the market, to take a digital scan of your teeth, which can then be used to make crowns, veneers, bridges, implant surgicalguides, and clear aligners.
Panoramic X-Ray
A panoramic x-ray machine rotates 360-degrees around your head to capture an image. This image allows us to visualize your teeth, sinuses, bone structure, and other anatomical features. When combined with your standard x-rays, we have a more complete visual record of your mouth.
3D Printer
Our office uses in-house 3D printing technology to create models of your teeth and custom surgical guides for dental implant placement. By combining digital imaging with 3D printing, we can create a printed guide that allows us to plan implant position in advance and increase implant placement accuracy.
AIRFLOW® Polisher
Air polishing is an alternative way to polish and manage dental biofilm. This device uses specially processed fine powders in pressurized air and water to create a warm spray that removes surface stains, plaque, and other soft deposits from your teeth. Kaka‘ako Smiles was the first dental office on the island to provide Airflow therapy as part of our professional dental cleaning procedure.
Cavitron
The Cavitron is a handheld device used during dental cleanings. While scaling can be completed by hand, the Cavitron uses ultrasonic technology to remove calculus from teeth and below the gums gently and effectively.
Rotary Endodontics Handpiece
A rotary endodontics handpiece is a tool designed for root canal therapy. This handpiece allows us to complete the procedure more efficiently so our patients can have a quicker and more comfortable experience.
